  • 2 cup Rice
  • 1 cup Grated Coconut
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Grind the soaked rice and grated coconut into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add salt and let the batter ferment for 6-8 hours.
  • STEP 3.Grease the idli molds with oil and pour the batter into each mold.
  • STEP 4.Steam the idlis in a steamer for 10-12 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  • STEP 5.Remove the idlis from the molds and serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add a handful of soaked and drained urad dal to the batter for a softer texture.
  • Make sure the steamer is properly heated before placing the idli molds.
  • You can also add chopped green chilies or grated ginger for a spicier flavor.

Storage and Serving

  • Store the leftover idlis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Serve the idlis hot with coconut chutney and sambar for breakfast or as a snack.
