Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine khoya, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Knead into a smooth dough.
  • STEP 2.In a separate bowl, mix desiccated coconut, powdered sugar, and cardamom powder to make the filling.
  • STEP 3.Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into balls. Flatten each ball and place a small amount of the coconut filling in the center. Seal the edges and roll it back into a ball shape.
  • STEP 4.Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the filled gulab jamuns until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.In another pan, prepare the sugar syrup by dissolving sugar in water and adding cardamom powder. Simmer until the syrup thickens.
  • STEP 6.Remove the fried gulab jamuns from the oil and immediately transfer them to the sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
