Chicken momo is one of the most loved snacks by nearly everyone. Momo is a Tibetean food, but as we all know, food has no boundaries and it is one of the most loved street foods of India. Here I've taught a very simple way to wrap the momos....simple and very easy and it can be made in no time at all. This comes in handy when you are a one - man army preparing momos at home! Ingredients for Chicken Momo ~ with easy wrapping technique Recipe

  • 56 g minced chicken
  • 34 g onion
  • 6 g ginger
  • 4 g green chilli
  • 0.30 Tsp pepper
  • 1/5 g Msg
  • 1/5 Tsp salt (taste)
  • 1 Tsp soya sauce
  • 4 g coriander leaves optional
  • 68 g maida
  • 1/5 Tsp salt
  • 4.80 g butter or vegetable fat

  • STEP 1.Grate the ginger.

  • STEP 2.Chop the green chillies into fine pieces.

  • STEP 3.Chop onions finely

  • STEP 4.Crush peppercorns or use pepper powder.

  • STEP 5.Take butter and vegetable fat, either or both. Adjust the amount accordingly.

  • STEP 6.Microwave for 30 secs, if frozen or hard.

  • STEP 7.Now into the minced chicken, add the chopped green chillies, chopped onion and grated ginger.

  • STEP 8.Add in the crushed peppercorn.

  • STEP 9.Add MSG (Monosodium glutamate aka Ajinomoto) to it.

  • STEP 10.Add in soya sauce.

  • STEP 11.Add the salt.

  • STEP 12.Mix it all well.

  • STEP 13.Add in the melted butter and fat.

  • STEP 14.Mix again and cover and keep for 3 to 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

  • STEP 15.For the wrappers, to the all-purpose flour (maida), add salt.

  • STEP 16.Add in the baking powder.

  • STEP 17.Mix everything well and add water, little at a time to make a dough.

  • STEP 18.Knead it for about 10 minutes and make a stiff dough. It should not be soft, so don't put too much water at once.

  • STEP 19.Cover the dough for an hour or so.

  • STEP 20.Grease the momo containers meanwhile so that the momos don't stick to it, when being steamed.

  • STEP 21.Knead the dough again and pinch out small balls.

  • STEP 22.Make all the balls and keep them covered.

  • STEP 23.Roll out each ball into a thin disc about 7 cm in diameter.

  • STEP 24.Try to keep the edges thinner than the central portion.

  • STEP 25.Take a disc and put some stuffing in the centre.

  • STEP 26.Now start wrapping the momo from both the sides using your index finger and thumb.

  • STEP 27.Once it reaches the end, pinch it together to seal it.

  • STEP 28.Wrap all the momos in this way and place them in the greased momo container.

  • STEP 29.Once all the containers are filled, pour water into the lowest container and stack the other containers on top of it and steam it for 20 minutes on medium to high flame.

  • STEP 30.Serve with momo chutney and soup.
