Ingredients for Chicken Masala Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Onions-coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 3/4 piece 6 boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into per thigh
  • 1/4 teaspoon Indian restaurant mix powder -see notes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mild kashmiri chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kasoor methi -dried fenugreek leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt -use a bit less if you are using table salt
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon bark -also called cassia bark
  • 1 Green cardamom pods
  • 1/2 tablespoon Garlic ginger paste-see notes
  • 1/2-3/4 piece Green chilies cut into large
  • 1/2 tablespoon Tomato paste plus enough water to dilute it to the consistency of tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 0.06 cup Tomatoes-diced
