  • 0.29 Onions, Finely Chopped

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a large pot, add chicken, lentils, wheat, and water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low. Cook until the chicken is tender and the lentils and wheat are fully cooked.
  • STEP 2.Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it using two forks. Set aside.
  • STEP 3.Using an immersion blender or a regular blender, blend the lentils and wheat until smooth and creamy.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pan, heat oil and add onions. Cook until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. Then add the blended lentil mixture and shredded chicken.
  • STEP 6.Add garam masala, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 7.In a small pan, heat ghee and add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Cook until fragrant.
  • STEP 8.Pour the ghee mixture over the daleem and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with fried onions, chopped coriander leaves, and ginger slices. Serve hot with naan or rice.

Cooking Tips

  • You can adjust the consistency of the daleem by adding more water if desired.
  • For a smoky flavor, you can add a piece of charcoal to the daleem. Heat the charcoal until red hot, place it in a small bowl, and place the bowl in the center of the daleem. Drizzle some oil over the charcoal and cover the pot for a few minutes.
  • You can also add fried onions as a topping for extra flavor and texture.

Storage and Serving

  • Chicken Daleem can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, add a little water or broth to the daleem and heat it on the stovetop or in the microwave until heated through.
