  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Large onion thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup Oil
  • 1.50 Whole cloves
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 1.50 Green cardamom pods
  • 1/2 teaspoon Caraway seeds
  • 6 cup 3 qt water
  • 1 Bay leaves
  • 1.50 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/2 pound 3 cups basmati rice, washed well and soaked in water for 30 minutes

  • 1/2 teaspoon Saffron threads soaked in0.5 cup warm water for 15 minutes
