  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder

Directions: Chana Dal Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse 1 cup of chana dal under running water and soak it in water for 2 hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the soaked dal and transfer it to a pressure cooker. Add 3 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
  • STEP 3.Pressure cook the dal for about 15-20 minutes until it becomes soft and mushy.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil or ghee. Add cumin seeds, chopped onions, and green chilies. Saut茅 until the onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste and saut茅 for a minute. Then, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  • STEP 6.Add the cooked chana dal to the pan and mix well. Add water if needed to adjust the consistency.
  • STEP 7.Season with salt, red chili powder, garam masala, and coriander powder. Mix well and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
