Directions: Cabbage Sesame Kofta Gravy (koftas In Appe Pan) Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine grated cabbage, besan, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, sesame seeds, salt, and chopped coriander leaves.
  • STEP 2.Mix well to form a dough-like consistency. If the mixture is too dry, add a little water.
  • STEP 3.Grease the cavities of an appe pan with oil. Take small portions of the cabbage mixture and shape them into small balls. Place them in the appe pan.
  • STEP 4.Cook the koftas on medium heat, turning them occasionally, until they turn golden brown and crispy from all sides.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook the gravy for 5-6 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Add water to adjust the consistency of the gravy. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
  • STEP 8.Add the cooked koftas to the gravy and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to squeeze out any excess water from the grated cabbage before using it in the kofta mixture.
  • If you don't have an appe pan, you can also deep fry the koftas in oil.
  • For a healthier version, you can bake the koftas in the oven instead of frying them.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover koftas and gravy can be stored in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat the koftas and gravy in a microwave or on the stovetop before serving.
  • Serve the Cabbage Sesame Kofta Gravy with steamed rice, jeera rice, or roti for a complete meal.
