Feijoada (black bean stew) is as brazilian as a dish can get. In fact, it is considered the national dish of the carioca region of brazil. It has a lot of ingredients which all contribute to its amazing taste. Its base consists of black beans, different kinds of meat, cold cuts and other vegetables. It is served on white rice, with slices of lemon or orange. It can also be served with finely diced cabbage, sauted with garlic and oil. Each time i make and eat this incredible dish, i am transported to rio de janeiro during carnival time, with the rhythm and moves of sambas in my head and heart and a caipirinha in my hand. One day i hope to actually go and experience rio during carnival first hand For now, i am content with my feijoada.
