#tomato Simple delicious side dish with steamed and mashed bottle gourd ( dhudhi), tomato and spices. Usually in bharta veggies are roasted on hot flame till tender, here used steamed method to make this side dish to setve with chapati/ parathas.

Ingredients for Bottle Gourd-Tomato Bharta Recipe

  • 125 gm bottle gourd/ dudhi
  • 1 pieces Medium red tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cummin seeds
  • 1/2 g pinch asafoetida/ hin
  • 0.13 tsp Tumeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Red kashmiri chilli powder
  • 0.13 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 inch pinch roasted jeera powder
  • to taste Salt to taste
  • As Required finely chopped green corainder leaves

Directions: Bottle Gourd-tomato Bharta Recipe

  • STEP 1.Peel and slice bottle gourd. Steam for 10 minutes. Cool.
  • STEP 2.Boil tomatoes in hot for 5 minutes. Remove skin.
  • STEP 3.Seperately.. coarsely blend steamed bottle gourd slices and tomatoes to in vegetable chopper.
  • STEP 4.In cooking pan add heat ghee. Do tempering of cummin seeds and asafoetida. Add chopped tomatoes. Saute for few minutes till tender.
  • STEP 5.Add tumeric powder,red kashmiri chilli powder, garam masala,salt, roasted jeera powder mix well. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Serve Relish Delicious Hot Bottle Gourd -Tomato Bharta with rotis/ parathas.
