Ingredients for Black Halwa Recipe

  • 0.31 cup Rice flour
  • 175 gram Jaggery
  • 1/4 pinch Salt
  • 1/4 cup Thick Coconut Milk
  • 1.25 cup Thin Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • 0.06 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee
  • As required Cashew nuts A few

Preparation Directions

  • STEP 1.Extract coconut milk in a bowl.
  • STEP 2.Heat Jaggery with 1/2cup water in a pan. Let the jaggery melt completely. Filter out the jaggery solution with a sieve.
  • STEP 3.Heat ghee in a pan and add the cashew nuts, roast it until golden.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Take a bowl and add 1¼cup rice flour. Gradually add 2 ½ cup thin coconut milk and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps.
  • STEP 2.Take a deep bottom pan and heat it. Add 2 ½ cup thin coconut milk, prepared mix of rice flour and prepared Jaggery solution. Mix well while pouring the jaggery solution. Add a pinch of salt, 1/4tsp cumin powder, 1tsp cardamom powder. Mix well.
  • STEP 3.Stir it continuously in medium flame. After 15 mins add the thick coconut milk. It will take about 40-45 mins. Add the roasted cashew nuts along with the ghee.
  • STEP 4.When the mixture becomes non-sticky and thick, turn off the flame.
  • STEP 5.Pour the mixture to a greased steel plate and spread it evenly. Garnish it with roasted cashew nuts.
  • STEP 6.Allow it to cool down.
  • STEP 7.Cut into desired shape and size.
  • STEP 8.Black Halwa is ready to be served.
