  • 1/2 Ripe Bananas
  • 1/4 cup Rice Flour
  • 0.06 cup Grated Coconut
  • 0.06 cup Jaggery
  • pinch Pinch Of Salt
  • as needed Water

Directions: Banana Idli Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, mash 2 ripe bananas until smooth.
  • STEP 2.Add 1 cup of rice flour, 1/4 cup of grated coconut, 1/4 cup of jaggery (optional), and a pinch of salt to the mashed bananas. Mix well.
  • STEP 3.Gradually add water to the mixture and whisk until you get a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to regular idli batter.
  • STEP 4.Grease the idli plates with oil and pour the batter into each cavity.
  • STEP 5.Steam the idlis for about 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • STEP 6.Once done, remove the idlis from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Serve the banana idlis hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to use ripe bananas for a sweeter flavor.
  • You can add a pinch of cardamom powder for extra aroma.
  • If you don't have rice flour, you can grind soaked rice to make your own rice flour.

Storage and Serving

  • Banana idlis are best served fresh and hot.
  • If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • To reheat, steam the idlis again for a few minutes or microwave them for a short time.
