Recipe of a vegetarian and simple street snack of Karnataka.A banana curry may seem like an odd combination, but give this fruity recipe a try - the sweetness of the banana, apple and sultanas are balanced out by the spice from the curry powder, with a little crunchy texture added with cashew nuts.

Ingredients for Banana Curry Recipe

  • 3 No.s Raw banana
  • 2 tablespoon Bengal gram
  • 2 tablespoon Black gram
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 4 No.s Green chillies
  • 1 piece Ginger
  • 6 No.s Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • As required Oil

Directions: Banana Curry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Bananas can be roasted on stove top, microwave oven or charcoal fire .

step 2

  • STEP 1.For stove- coat the bananas with oil. Roast while turning at intervals. And keep aside.

step 3

  • STEP 2.For oven- prick the bananas with a fork and place in microwave wrapped in a cloth and place. Cook on high heat for 4 minutes. Then take out.  turn the bananas and again cook on high power for 2 minutes or till bananas are soft to touch and just cooked. Scarp the white part of banana and use it.

  • STEP 1.Take a pan and heat 3 tbsp of oil and add a spoon of chana dal, black gram, fry till seeds start changing colour.

  • STEP 3.Then add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and then add green chillies paste, curry leaves and fry well

step 6

  • STEP 4.Then add turmeric powder and the roasted bananas and salt to taste. Mix well. Cover and cook on low flame for one minute.

step 7

  • STEP 5.Switch the flame off and then add lemon juice.

step 8

  • STEP 6.The curry is ready.
