  • 1/5 cup Bajra Flour
  • 1/10 cup Yogurt
  • 1/5 teaspoon Ginger Green Chili Paste
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • As required Water As Required

  • 1/5 teaspoon Sesame Seeds

  • 1/2 En Chilies, Slit

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, mix bajra flour, yogurt, ginger-green chili paste, salt, and water to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Cover the batter and let it ferment for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  • STEP 3.Grease a dhokla plate or a steamer plate with oil and pour the batter into it.
  • STEP 4.Steam the dhokla for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • STEP 5.Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Cut the dhokla into square or diamond-shaped pieces.
  • STEP 7.For tempering, heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies.
  • STEP 8.Pour this tempering over the dhokla pieces and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • STEP 9.Serve the Bajra Dhokla with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to ferment the batter for the recommended time to get soft and fluffy dhoklas.
  • You can add grated vegetables like carrots or spinach to the batter for added nutrition.
  • Adjust the amount of green chilies according to your spice preference.
  • To check if the dhokla is cooked, insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, it is ready.
  • You can also sprinkle some grated coconut on top for extra flavor.
