Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and cook the lentils until they are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and vegetables of your choice. Cook until they are tender.
  • STEP 4.Add tamarind pulp, sambar powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Add the cooked lentils and simmer for a few minutes until the flavors blend together.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or idli.

Cooking Tips

  • You can use a mix of vegetables like carrots, beans, drumsticks, and brinjal for added flavor.
  • Adjust the quantity of sambar powder according to your spice preference.
  • To enhance the taste, you can also add a teaspoon of jaggery or sugar.
