STEP 1.For boiled rice First boil the water. Add whole spices, oil, salt and soaked rice. Boil for just 10 minutes and drain. Rinse in cold water.
STEP 2.Soak the dal for 1 hour, then boil them, add salt and soda, drain the water and keep it aside. Do not boil the dal too much so that they are cooked but remain whole.
STEP 3.Now heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds in it. Add ginger, green chilli garlic paste and fry.
STEP 4.Now add tomato paste to it and mix all the spices. Add red chilli, turmeric, garam masala, coriander powder, chaat masala, dry mango powder and cook.
STEP 5.When the gravy is cooked, add fried potatoes, dal,boiled peas, mint or coriander leaves and mix. Remove from gas and keep aside.
STEP 6.For biryani, first apply some butter in a heavy bottomed vessel, apply a layer of rice on it, apply gravy on top, some fried potatoes, mint and coriander leaves and apply butter. Then make the layer again in the same manner, garnish it well with fried onions, fried potatoes, mint peas, put salt on the pan, place the biryani vessel, cover it and simmer for 20 minutes.
STEP 7.garnish with fried onions serve hot.
