Ingredients for Amba Khajur Modak Recipe

  • 1/2 cup - ripe mango pulp
  • 1/2 cup - dates (seedless and chopped)
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup - jaggery (grated)
  • 1/2 tablespoon - ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/4 teaspoon - Cardamom Powder
  • As required - A pinch of saffron (optional)
  • As required - Modak molds

Directions: Amba Khajur Modak Recipe

  • STEP 1.- If using fresh mangoes, blend the pulp to a smooth consistency.Chop the dates finely.Grate the jaggery.Heat ghee in a pan on medium heat.Add the grated coconut and sauté for a few minutes until it turns slightly golden.Add the jaggery and cook until it melts and combines with the coconut.Stir in the mango pulp and mix well.Add the chopped dates and continue to cook until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.Sprinkle cardamom powder and saffron, mix well, and remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly.Grease the modak molds with a little ghee to prevent sticking.Take a small portion of the mixture and press it into the molds.Carefully remove the modaks from the molds and place them on a plate.
