very little rice and moong dal cook in milk and add jaggery syrup. very delicious dish in tamilnadu. mouth melting sweet rice pongal. This akkaravadisal is prasadh for Ranganathaswamy at Srirangam temple in tamilnadu.
STEP 1.Boil the milk in a heavy bottom pan. Add the moong dal and rice. Cook in medium heat until the rice and moongdal are completely cooked. Stir in between. Mash it well. Add jaggery syrup ( melted and strained ). Mix well. Add ghee and cardamom powder and mix. Add a pinch of saffron and roasted cashew. Add remaining 1/4 cup ghee and mix well.
