Dairy products include products like milk, cheese, and yogurt. This plays an important role in your kids diet because it contains essential nutrients like calcium for strong bones and teeth, proteins for the growth and regeneration of muscle tissue, etc. But mothers often get confused about which milk is the most suitable option for their toddler.
We list down some milk varieties that you can feed your infant.
1. Goat milk
Not many parents know but goat milk is the most suitable choice for their kids. In goat’s milk, there is more calcium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin A and potassium than cow’s milk. Goat’s milk perfectly matches the nutritional value of cow’s milk.
2. Soy milk
Soy milk provides enough calories and protein for a growing baby. Go with the unsweetened soy milk enriched with calcium and Vitamin D.
3. Almond milk
Almond milk is low in protein and fat. So it may not satisfy your kid's nutritional needs. Therefore, it may not be the best alternative to dairy products. If you decide to use almond milk, choose sugar-free options enriched with calcium and Vitamin D.
4. Rice milk
Toddlers who are allergic to cows and soy or who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet can switch to rice milk.
If you're still not sure about which alternative to choose, then it is better to stick to breast milk for up to two years. After the age of two, you can switch to another milk alternative of your choice, to feed your infant an adequate amount of nutrients.
Disclaimer: If your baby has been diagnosed with milk allergy, or has other dietary restrictions, take them to the pediatrician or nutritionist.
