Every year on February 24, people all around the world celebrate World Bartender Day. Bartenders play a crucial role in the hospitality sector. A pub, tavern, or nightclub today would not be the same without a bartender. They make sure that customers are well-satisfied with their drinks, especially the alcoholic variety, and they keep the bar busy.

The first bartending position was likely held in the 1400s, despite the fact that it may seem like a more contemporary occupation. It is believed to have first appeared many thousand years ago in a number of places, including Asia, Greece, and Rome. Bartenders at the time would have been innkeepers and alehouse proprietors who made their own brews and liquors to offer the customers.
The general public didn't start to have a reasonably positive view of bartending until the 1800s, at which point they stopped passing moral and ethical judgement on bartenders. Jerry Thomas, known as the "father of bartending," rose to fame at this time for the unique cocktails he made in his bars in New York City.

From the Curry Leaf Negroni to the Madikeri Mudslide, these cocktails use the best that the city has to offer, with homegrown ingredients like cinnamon, curry leaf and coffee being prominent flavour profiles.

Madikeri Mudslide
Ingredients -
- 30ml Vodka
- 20ml Fresh Expresso
- 20ml Baileys
- 20ml Kahlua
- Coffee Beans to garnish
- Cinnamon syrup- 5 ml
Method -
Shake the vodka, espresso, Baileys and Kahlua and cinnamon syrup together in a cocktail shaker. Serve it into a coupe glass and garnish with the coffee beans
Curry Leaf Negroni
Ingredients -
- 25ml Gin
- 25ml Sweet Vermouth
- 25ml Campari
- Ice
- A tender twig of curry leaf to garnish
Method -
Measure out the Gin, Vermouth and Campari into a cocktail mixer with ice. Add in curry leaves and muddle it. Stir it well.
Strain into a tumbler and add some fresh ice. Garnish with a tender twig of curry leaf.
