Winter or summer, a cup of tea is a must-have for Indians. But if you are a chai lover, you need some extra sips when the temperature drops. To satiate your cravings, you can either enjoy your regular cup of tea or prepare tea-infused drinks to uplift your mood.
Dr Rupali Ambegaonkar, Business Head, Tea Culture of The World, shared five amazing recipes that will help you stay warm in winter and satisfy your tea cravings. Once you try these beverages, there is no going back to sipping milk-based regular chai with a biscuit. These are also perfect for serving at a high-tea party or brunch.
Happy Immunity Beverage
“This drink combines the goodness of green tea with the warmth of mixed herbs. It’s perfect for boosting immunity while staying cosy,” said Dr Rupali Ambegaonkar.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp immunity-boosting herbs or tea
- 1 slice of orange
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- Honey to taste
Instructions
- Put a cup of water to boil.
- Add the immunity-boosting tea or herbs.
- After simmering the ingredients for 5 minutes, switch off the flame.
- Add lemon zest, honey, and a slice of orange. Enjoy!

White Chocolate Matcha Latte
Ingredients
- 1 gm matcha powder
- 10 gm melted white chocolate
- 100 ml milk of your choice
- A hint of matcha to dust
Instructions
- In a bowl add the matcha powder and 50 ml of hot water (80°C), and whisk till a frothy layer is formed with the help of a bamboo whisk or hand whisk.
- Add 10 gm of melted white chocolate, and whisk a bit.
- Heat the milk and froth it, gently pour the matcha mix.
- Sprinkle a hint of matcha as a garnish.
Spiced Masala Chai Latte
Chai expert said, "Nothing beats the classic masala chai during winter, but this latte version adds a creamy, indulgent touch."
Ingredients
- 1 tsp masala chai
- 1 cup milk (or almond milk)
- 1 tsp honey
- Pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
- Steep the tea in boiling water for 4 minutes.
- Heat the milk and froth it (with the help of a hand frother)
- In the serving cup combine the brewed tea with honey. Gently pour the frothed milk then sprinkle with cinnamon before serving.
Chamomile Apple Cider
According to the expert, "This drink combines the soothing properties of chamomile with the tartness of apple cider for a calming winter drink."
Ingredients
- 1 tsp chamomile tea
- 10 ml apple cider
- A pinch of nutmeg
- A cinnamon stick (for garnish)
Instructions
- Brew the chamomile tea and let it steep for 3 minutes at 80°C.
- Warm the apple cider and mix it with the brewed tea.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
