Talk indigestion in India and someone us sure to suggest Hajmola to you. The brand has resonated with most of Indian households in the country, so much that a bottle of Hajmola is a must to go around the dining table after every meal. And not just for its digestive qualities, the tablets are so tasty that they have been a part of most of our childhood. Don’t you remember chewing one tablet after another for the sheer tantalising flavour? But that is limited to India and perhaps the west has been missing out on all the fun. Not until they finally discovered it just recently. A viral video on YouTube has been doing the rounds where a few Americans tried our favourite Hajmola, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that their reactions are hilarious. From astonishment to utter shock, we got a host of reactions. Shared by YouTube channel ‘OUR STUPID REACTIONS’, the video has so far garnered 3.9k ‘likes' and 96,293 views. You have to see the end where a little baby is trying the ‘candy’. Take a look:
The video starts by the participants being told what exactly it is, they are also shocked to learn that it was a spicy candy. After smelling it, Zack, a participant asked, “Candy is sweet usually, right?” And after smelling it a couple of times, he ended up sneezing. Other participants including his parents felt it smelt like “seasoning salt” and can be used as chicken seasoning. They tasted it and felt it was “too salty” and “spicy”. His father, however felt that it isn’t too bad but should be added "in smaller amounts”. One participant said it tastes like boiled egg.
Another curious participant, John, sniffed it and thought it smelled like an entire “taco shop”. He took a pill and the burst of tangy flavours was too much for him to take and said it reminded them of Mexican candies in convenience stores. While a woman participant frowned at the taste and didn't know what to do. When someone told her that it dissolves in the mouth she said “That'll dissolve anything you eat.”
On the other hand, some participants really enjoyed the flavour after a while. In fact, they went on pop more pills!
The video garnered many hilarious comments too including some interesting ones from Indians as well. “Now I'm curious about how exactly do American eggs taste” wrote Manas Kocharekar. Another user even recommended trying Chavanprash! Paul Saha suggested trying the tamarind flavoured Hajmola and wrote “Give them the tamarind version. People like me prefer that.”
A Marvel Studios fan, Aprit Monga, had a hilarious take on this and wrote, “Loki: we have an army. Tony Stark: we have a Hulk. Indians: we have Hajmola. When Thanos was resisting to drop off the Gauntlet, I would have just dropped 5 Hajmola in his mouth.”
