The love for Indian breads is quite evident, with a wide range of assorted breads that are packed in a basket and offered to you in weddings, ceremonies as well as at restaurants. Tandoori roti, rumali roti, hari mirch ka paratha, laccha paratha, missi roti, butter naan, garlic naan and the list is endless. You’ll find most, if not all, of these under the Breads section of the menu. And well, you could pick anything and enjoy with a North Indian curry. Out of all these, what has made a landmark presence in the international kitchens too is the naan. Often times, you’ll find it written as Indian naan bread or simply naan bread.
For those untouched by the phenomenon of naan, it is a soft and fluffy stretched bread that is made from fermented dough of all-purpose flour and yeast. The interplay of stretchy, chewy and soft textures makes the naan a delightful treat to be paired with butter chicken, paneer lababdar, chicken masala and more. While making the naan is definitely an art, with quite a few places boasting of making the biggest naan, it is the recently tweeted naan bedsheet that caught our attention.
Oh yes, we aren’t kidding. A few days back, a popular author turned actor, Padma Lakshmi took to her Twitter handle to share the picture of a naan bedsheet. The host of the Top Chef has openly shared her love for Indian food in past too but this time, it was the bizarreness that grabbed eyeballs. Can’t picture it yet? Here, take a look.

Very creatively working on a word play, she captions it saying, “Naan Bed For Sale, comes with 2 pilau cases”. The image is that of a bed made covered in a naan-printed bed sheet along with the same pattern printed on two pillow cases. While a lot of the users were quick to guess that it was the work of 3-D printing, others joined the bandwagon of hilarious and witty replies.
One user, @TADaniel57 commented, that he had a dream about eating a giant naan the previous night and his blanket went missing next morning while a few found it to be a stained bedsheet and a disgusting idea.
Whether this naan bedsheet has captured your imagination or not, you wouldn’t want to miss out on some of the best naans in town.
