As much as we love biting into a hot paratha dripping with butter, it is the effort that goes into making one that completely puts us off. You take the flour, add the right amount of water and knead and knead and knead until you get the dough (or a sticky muddle). Making something as simple as paratha could really test your patience in the kitchen, which is why this viral cooking technique has set the internet ablaze. Turns out, you do not need a dough to make a paratha after all, a liquid batter of flour, salt and spices works just fine. You heard that right. You can make a paratha just like you make crepes, and this video by food blogger Alpa posted on channel 'Something's Cooking With Alpa' demonstrates how.
Ingredients:
To make this paratha you would need:
1 cup of wheat flour or atta
1 tbsp of finely chopped onions
2 tbsp of fresh coriander leaves
1 tbsp of grated garlic cloves
1 tsp chilli flakes
1 tbsp melted butter
Salt as per taste.
Method:
1.Mix all ingredients together, add water gradually to make a smooth, flowing batter.
2. Cover it and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
3. Heat ghee on a pan, spread it across.
4. On low flame, add a ladle full of batter and spread it out evenly across your non-stick pan.
5. Let it cook for a minute on low flame. It is very important that you keep the flame on low, else you may burn your parathas.
6. Flip it over and cook on both sides evenly.
7. Repeat the same with rest of the batter.
Serve your parathas hot with any chutney, pickle or dip of your choice.
