Oh how I love the internet for all the content it offers on a daily basis. Ranging from funny videos, memes, interesting facts and information to food videos. And when it comes to food videos, they range from recipe videos which are pure bliss; you know the ones that involve mouth-watering delicacies such as momos, pizzas, cheesy pastas, rich curries, crispy dosas and so on. But some are outright bizarre. These are the ones that involve combine some of our favourite foods with something completely different. Now I’m a dosa lover and I love to try different types of dosas- Mysore masala, Neer dosa, Rava dosa and so on. The thin crispy crepe has a special place in our hearts and so I would also love a cheese dosa or even a chocolate dosa, and many such unique types. But a recent viral video on Instagram showed a dosa that was wildly amusing, to say the least - charcoal dosa. Yes, you read that right.
The Instagram reel, shared by a page named 'redchilli_foods, showed a pitch-black charcoal dosa served with colourful vegetable stuffing, mayonnaise, and cheese. The dosa is said to be originally served by a restaurant ‘Maduras’ in Madurai. This bold and beautiful dosa is a sight you don’t want to miss; take a look:
The Instagram video showed the black dosa batter being spread on a pan to cook, stuffed with a flavourful saucy mix, onion and mayonnaise, it was served with oodles of grated cheese on top. The video already has over 900k views, and more than 24k likes and many interesting comments. While some liked the idea of black charcoal dosa, others did not take it well.
One of the readers commented, "pls put dosa as dosa ". Another comment read, " Use me as dislike button." One user commented “Hyyy ram khane ki chezo ke sath pata nhi kya kya kare hain yeh log (Oh God don’t know what all are these people doing with food items)”
While most of comments were against the dosa, some were also intrigued by the colour. One reader wrote. "How is it black", whereas another commented "What did you mix in it? How black?"
