Viral: How To Make Coca-Cola Wings For Your Next Get-Together

Coca-cola wings are not just any viral trend on social media. They are made with a couple of ingredients that are frequently used in cooking. In Hong Kong, coca-cola wings have been around for years. They have a sticky texture, and taste heavenly! Here’s the twist, though: you have to use beer in the marinade to add flavour to your wings and use the standard boiling method to create the glaze. But some people use the braising method to lend a juicier texture to the chicken wings, though the wings are not marinated in that method. We decided to go for the simpler choice of marination. Are you excited to check out the recipe? See all the steps below.

INGREDIENTS

1 can of beer

1 bottle of coca-cola

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

1 tablespoon dark soy sauce

Oil, for frying

1 chopped onion

Salt to taste

METHOD

  • Wash and rinse the chicken wings properly.
  • Pour half a can of beer in a bowl and let the chicken wings rest for an hour. This will help tenderise the meat.
  • In a pan of hot oil, saute the ginger garlic paste and onion over medium heat.
  • Put the chicken wings one by one into the pan.
  • Add the rest of the beer slowly to the pan, while also drizzling light and dark soy sauces. Let it cook for a minute.
  • By now, you may have a nice colour on the wings. Add one-fourth bottle of coke into the pan. At this point, the broth starts to bubble and caramelise, so turn the heat down to avoid overcooking the wings.
  • After about two to three minutes, turn the wings around so the sauce covers both sides of the chicken wings.
  • Once the sauce has almost caramelised completely, turn the heat up so that there’s no sauce left.
  • Remove wings from pan.
  • Serve.

We hope that you enjoyed this recipe! What other ways are there to cook with coca-cola?
