Call it golgappa, panipuri or phuchka, there are countless names of this peculiar snack that comprises a puffed, crispy ball made of wheat or semolina that is punctured at the centre and stuffed with spicy water, potatoes, chickpeas, spices and more. Up North, the snack is commonly referred to as Gol Gappa, and you know what else is supremely popular in North? You do not have to think too hard; we are, most certainly talking about the butter chicken. The tomato-based, creamy chicken gravy has cast such a strong spell on desi foodies that they are stuffing butter chicken just about everywhere, from momos to tacos, there is really no end to this obsession. A post shared on Twitter by Devlina(@AarKiBolboBolo) shows a picture of ‘Butter Chicken Gol Gappas’. The disgruntled user stumbled upon the unique dish on the menu of a food delivery outlet. The picture features four gol gappas filled with butter chicken gravy, chicken chunks, crunchy sev and fresh basil.
There were many comments that echoed her sentiments too.
“I am sure these are ordered after the party table is more than two pegs down.” wrote a user.
“It's an insult to both, 'Gol Gappe' and 'Butter Chicken'.” wrote another.
However, there were many who actually sounded pretty kicked about it.
“That golgappa will add a bit crunch and taste nice i believe”, tweeted a user.
“I will eat anything that has butter chicken in it. I had butter chicken omelette few months back”, wrote an avid butter chicken fan.
To be honest. The picture looks pretty appetising to me, but I also enjoy the much-dreaded Hawaiian pizza with shreds of pineapple on top. What are your thoughts on the combination? Do let us know. Meanwhile, you can try your hands at this is easy-peasy recipe of Butter Chicken. You may or may not add them to your gol gappa.
