Chef Vikas Khanna is known by most people in India and the world as a Michelin-starred chef and MasterChef India judge, but the chef has also been venturing into filmmaking in recent years. Vikas Khanna is now working on his next film with Prateik Babbar and Shabana Azmi. The chef and actor Prateik Babbar are currently in Amritsar shooting for this film and took some time out to perform Seva at the famous Golden Temple’s langar.
In a recent video post by Vikas Khanna on Instagram, the duo is seen making rotis over a huge, flat tandoor in the langar kitchen. Vikas Khanna, who hails from Amritsar and has been doing Seva at the Golden Temple langar for years, is clearly a dab hand at quickly flipping the rotis and cooking them to perfection. Prateik Babbar too is seen to learn the process quickly and perform roti cooking like a pro, with a smile on his face throughout.
For those who don’t know, the famous langar at the Golden Temple serves free food to thousands of people every single day, including the poor and visitors. Doing Seva or contributing your time to help out with the huge amount of food prepared in this langar kitchen is seen as a charitable act by Sikhs and Hindus alike. While such langar kitchens operate in Gurudwaras across India, the one at Golden Temple is famed for being the largest.
In his post, Vikas Khanna dedicates words of appreciation to Prateik Babbar, who is all set to play the lead role in the story written by the chef. The story revolves around Shiva, a cab driver played by Prateik Babbar, who is hired by Prerna (played by Shabana Azmi) on a road journey from Delhi to Amritsar.
