As a breastfeeding mom, you may have to consume more calories to maintain your energy levels. However, the good thing is you are not required to follow a special breastfeeding diet since the amount of breast milk a lactating mom produces depends on supply and demand, not what food they eat. Still, it is wise to eat balanced meals containing nutrient-rich foods to satisfy the seemingly insatiable appetite that comes with it, especially when the baby is going through a growth spurt. A lactating woman's body will prioritise making nutritious breast milk regardless of what she is eating. The nutrition needs of mom and the baby can be met with healthy food choices and adequate calories. It is important for lactating women to eat healthy food in order to feed their babies properly. Breast milk is made from the nutrients they store in their body as well as those they eat. So eating healthy food will be beneficial for moms as well as babies.
