While some prefer to eat this fruit alone, others adore pairing it with other foods to create entirely new dishes. Some people have the practice of eating cold mangoes right away after a meal, but there are some items that one should avoid eating after eating mangoes. The fact that such meals, when ingested after mango, might be harmful to health rather than beneficial is the main reason. Here is a list of all the foods to stay away from after eating mango. 

Curd 

Curd or yoghurt is a dairy product that is commonly consumed as a side dish or a dessert. However, consuming curd immediately after having mangoes is not recommended. The reason for this is that mangoes are high in citric acid, which can cause the milk proteins in the curd to coagulate, leading to digestive issues such as bloating and gas. This combination can also produce heat in the body, leading to discomfort and a feeling of unease. In Ayurvedic medicine, this is known as viruddha aahar, or incompatible food combinations, which can cause harm to the body. It is advisable to wait for at least an hour after eating mangoes before consuming curd or other dairy products to avoid any digestive issues. Alternatively, you can also pair mangoes with other fruits or have them as a standalone snack to enjoy their delicious taste and numerous health benefits. 

Spicy Food 

Consuming spicy food immediately after having mangoes is not recommended as it can cause digestive issues such as acidity, heartburn, and stomach upset. Mangoes are high in natural sugars and acids that can lead to an increase in stomach acid production. When spicy food is consumed, it can further irritate the lining of the stomach, causing discomfort and inflammation. This can lead to a feeling of unease and can also cause bloating, gas, and diarrhea. Therefore, it is advisable to wait for at least an hour after eating mangoes before consuming spicy food. It is also recommended to avoid consuming large quantities of mangoes and spicy food in a single meal to prevent any digestive issues. Bittergourd 

While both bittergourd and mangoes are nutritious and offer numerous health benefits, consuming them together is not recommended. This is because bittergourd is a bitter vegetable that can cause an imbalance in the body's doshas, particularly the pitta dosha. When mangoes, which are sweet and acidic, are consumed with bittergourd, it can lead to an increase in the pitta dosha, causing digestive issues such as acid reflux, indigestion, and inflammation in the digestive tract. 

Furthermore, bittergourd and mangoes have different digestion times. Bittergourd takes longer to digest than mangoes and consuming them together can lead to an increase in the digestive fire or Agni, which can cause discomfort and acidity. 

To avoid any digestive issues, it is advisable to consume bittergourd and mangoes separately, with a gap of at least two hours between them. Alternatively, you can also pair bittergourd with milder vegetables and avoid consuming large quantities of both bittergourd and mangoes in a single meal. 

Water 

Mangoes are high in natural sugars and acids that can increase the production of stomach acid, and drinking water immediately after consuming mangoes can dilute the acid, making it harder for the body to digest the food. This can lead to bloating, gas, and indigestion, causing discomfort and unease. 

Moreover, water can also interfere with the absorption of nutrients from mangoes. Mangoes are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and drinking water immediately after consuming them can wash away these nutrients, making it harder for the body to absorb them. 

To avoid any digestive issues and ensure maximum absorption of nutrients, it is advisable to wait for at least 30 minutes to an hour after eating mangoes before drinking water. This will give the body enough time to digest the food and absorb the nutrients properly. 

Cold Drinks 

Firstly, mangoes are a tropical fruit that are high in natural sugar content.
