Bappa is here! Hindus all around the world welcomed Lord Ganesha on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi with much aplomb. Ganesh Chaturthi is a popular Hindu festival which will conclude on 19th December this year. Besides the wide scale of celebrations, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is also very popular for its feast. From Modak to Karanji, Puran Poli to Sheera, there’s enough to satiate your sweet tooth. While the traditional recipes have all our heart, but a simple addition of chocolate can give a lovely upgrade to these sweets. There, there, we saw those eyes pop in excitement. And excited you should be! We got a chocolate sheera recipe from none other than our favourite chef Ranveer Brar. For the uninitiated, Sheera is a luscious halwa-like sweet that is often included in a Ganesh Chaturthi Prasad Thali. There are various kinds of sheeras you can experiment with, but a dash of Hershey’s chocolate syrup can prove to be a game-changer of sorts.
Here’s the recipe of Chocolate Sheera by Chef Ranveer Brar that you must try this festive season.
Ingredients:
3 tbsp ghee
100 gm semolina (suji)
200 ml water
2 tbsp. HERSHEY’S Chocolate Flavored Syrup
¼ Cup Sugar
Method:
1. Take a saucepan, add ghee and let it melt on medium heat.
2. Once the ghee has melted, add semolina or sooji or rava . Roast it till the colour changes to light golden brown.
3. Now add water slowly and as required. Give it a good mix. Add the chocolate syrup
4. Stir the halwa nicely.
5. Now cover the pan and let the mixture simmer for a good two minutes.
6. Your sheera is done, garnish with sliced almonds and served piping hot.
