While one may travel far and wide and taste a variety of foods across the globe, the heart is still connected to the regional fare that is cooked at one’s house. It goes for the celebrities too. Most of them may have settled in Mumbai for work, but their heart yearns for the traditional ghar ka khaana. Tara Sutaria is one of those people and her immense love for Parsi cuisine is quite evident on her social media too.

The 26-year-old transitioned from being a singer to a Bollywood actor in a couple of years, but her foodie habits haven’t changed one bit. While she is a self-confessed foodie and we have seen her digging into a variety of cuisines time and again, what remains close to her heart is authentic Parsi food. If you’ve been an ardent follower, you would know that Tara’s love for this cuisine multiplied so much in the lockdown that she ended up taking Parsi cooking classes with her sister, Pia Sutaria.

During the pandemic when everyone was stuck at home, Tara was taking cooking lessons from her mother and grandmother who she believes are great cooks, according to an interview with a media publication. Among the host of Parsi dishes she tried, one of them was Salli Boti, a rustic mutton curry filled with Parsi spices and finely-sliced fried potato sticks.

Even during Navroz or the Parsi New Year, the actor cooked up a storm in the kitchen with her family. For the celebratory feast, there was lagan mutton pulao on the menu along with saas ni macchi, sweet and sour fish cooked in a creamy white gravy. All the food was served on banana leaves and Tara seemed to be really thrilled about it.

While Tara enjoys authentic Parsi food cooked at home by her mother and granny, there are times when she craves the same during shoots. This one time, she headed out for a quick meal post packup with her friend and co-worker to a popular Parsi café in Mumbai. Britannia and Co. is a legendary café on the streets of Mumbai and she was seen gorging on some keema pav and berry pulao after work.
