Indian breads are something that truly makes our cuisine so rich. Beyond the realms of roti and puris, the variety of parathas are astounding and the type of naans is a separate discussion altogether. The light yet wholesome rotis to crispy pooris and stuffed parathas, there is something about Indian breads that we absolutely love. Speaking of parathas, it isn’t just a bread to serve in lunch but many Indian homes love to start their day with piping hot parathas served with sabzi, curd, pickle or simple chutney. This is mainly due to how filling parathas are. One paratha in and you are full for the next couple of hours. Do we even need to tell you how quick and easy they are? They are a perfect combination of a yummy and nutritious meal.

And if you think you are a hardcore paratha lover and have tried close to everything from staple aloo parathas to gobi, paneer, mixed veg and even keema paratha, think again! Because what we have here is a rare one and you won’t find it easily even on highway dhabas. We are talking about the Talwa paratha. Worth every bite, Talwa paratha is one such variety that is lesser known but one bite in and you’ll forget the count post that.

It is a stuffed paratha, but the difference lies in how it is stuffed. The regular stuffed parathas will have the spices rolled in with the paratha, Talwa paratha has it is inside the dough. And no, it isn't cooked over the pan with just a teaspoon of oil. It is fried in hot oil until crispy. Deep-fried parathas for the win!

How To Make Talwa Paratha

Talwa paratha is indeed a spicy and flavourful that is irresistibly delicious. After all, it has red chilli powder rolled into the dough! To make it at home all you need is to make the dough with flour, red chilli powder and salt mixed together. Next you just need to saute jeera, salt, peas and red chilli in a pan, cool and mash them together to make the stuffing. Pack the stuffing in dough cups, roll into a paratha and deep-fry in desi ghee. Your crispy, stuffed, wholesome parathas are ready to be devoured.

While Talwa paratha is a wholesome, stuffed meal in itself, if you want you can pair it with sabzis such as zeera aloo, crispy bhindi or a simple bowl of curd.
