From being a soap opera star of Hindi television to running the country as a Union Minister, Smriti Irani’s professional journey is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Not only is she a fabulous actor, but is a great cook too. Smriti loves making food at home and recently, we saw her gearing up for winters with these sweet meats.

The minister took to her Instagram stories to share a glimpse of what’s cooking in her kitchen. Her hands were covered in flour, as she was busy rolling ladoos between her palms. On the picture, she wrote, “Making my stock of choorma ladoos” and tagged @balyan.sunita. For the unversed, choorma ladoos are a Rajasthani and Gujarati specialty, made with wheat flour, sesame seeds, ghee and jaggery. The crunchy and decadent balls are perfect to keep you warm in winters.

Not just choorma ladoos, there are plenty of other winter ladoos that can be relished during this season. These include gond ladoos, panjiri ladoos, til ladoos and date ladoos. The former is a chewy and chunky bite that helps to keep your body warm during chilly weather and is considered great for a post-pregnancy diet too. Date, or khajoor, is a natural sweetener and also generates heat in the body. These ladoos are healthy and full of nuts, which are quintessential to winters.

Next up, there is panjiri ladoo. Packed with goodness of semolina, wheat flour, coconut and makhanas, these are crunchy and sweet bites which are rolled and kept to be set. Not only do they help to fight the cold, they are also good for strengthening bones. During winters, another common ingredient one can find is sesame or til. To make best use of it, til ladoos are prepared in several households and stocked up to bear the winds of the chilly weather.
