Things that are destined to achieve greatness do so – sooner or later! And for Slurrp’s Great Indian Cookout, a contest to find and give platform to the finest of home chefs, it happened sooner rather than later. In its 2nd year, the event grew bigger, better and grander in several ways, with thousands of enthusiastic home chefs taking part in it.

The 3-day event this year went on during the fun HT City Unwind weekend from 6th October – 8th October. After receiving well over 700 entries, Great Indian Cookout powered by Weikfield and Glen, had 9 finalists come down to Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium and cook their dishes live. They were judged by stalwarts like Chef Pankaj Bhadouria, Chef Kunal Kapoor, Chef Nishant Choubey, Chef Sabyasachi Ghorai and finally, the icon himself – Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. From all of these super talented finalists, we finally got our winner in 23-year-old Muskan Sharma, who was chosen by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor himself.

In 2022, Slurrp had a very successful Master chef Cookalong Contest, which had garnered huge interest during that year’s edition of HT City Unwind. It was a fun event, with hundreds of home chefs participating and cooking along with renowned chefs like Chef Kunal Kapur, Chef Dayashankar Sharma, Chef Varun Inamdar and Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi.

This year, the response to the Great Indian Cookout by Slurrp was even bigger – with the audiences waiting with bated breath to see who would be crowned Delhi’s best home chef after a neck-to-neck contest between the 9 finalists. A major reason behind the success and extra joy regarding this edition of Great Indian Cookout was due to the fact that Slurrp has now become India’s numero uno food and recipe website. And what the number one food site does is give the people a culinary celebration they will never forget!

This year, the contest saw celebrity chefs coming to the event and cooking live for the audience. From fun banters to singing and dancing, the cookout was not just another culinary event – it was an occasion for the Slurrp Community to come together for the love of food. There were hampers by Weikfield and vouchers by Glen that were up for grabs and the very interactive audience made sure they participated wholeheartedly in all the question-and-answer rounds happening.

Many of the home chefs left feeling much more confident about their skills and with selfies alongside their favourite celebrity chefs. They got to ask candid questions to these experienced chefs and the 9 finalists got to cook for them too! Live cooking masterclasses only elevated the fun and knowledge element of the Great Indian Cookout. After all the 3 days of cooking, learning and eating – every contestant, audience member, visiting chef and the entire of Team Slurrp went home happier, having been part of such a successful event.
