The demanding work-life culture of today is one of the major reasons behind the consumption of frozen foods. We understand that time crunch in the morning or evening forces you to go for your favourite frozen pasta or chicken nuggets. If you do this once in a while, it is okay. However, if having frozen foods have become your daily habit, you should immediately put an end to it, as frozen foods adversely affect our health. 

Ingredients and preservatives used to increase the shelf life of these items can have side effects that you cannot even think of. They can even claim your life. Yes, you read that right. They contain hydrogenated palm oil with harmful trans-fat, a form of unsaturated fat that converts liquid vegetable oils to semi-solid and is linked to an array of negative health effects. Also, preservatives including starch, corn syrup are added to frozen foods. Notably, these are carcinogenic substances. Moreover, sodium content in these kinds of foods is too high and that can raise your likelihood of suffering from high blood pressure, cholesterol problem, diabetes etc. Below, we have listed a few other significant reasons to avoid frozen foods. 

Frozen Foods Cause Diabetes

As mentioned above, starch is used to keep frozen foods fresh. Notably, starch is basically a polymer of glucose that is converted to sugar by your body before digestion. Having frozen foods almost daily means increasing the level of glucose in your system that can further raise your risk of developing diabetes and causing damage to your body tissues. Therefore, you are advised to strictly stay away from frozen foods especially if diabetes runs in your family. 

Frozen Foods Increases Risk of Heart Diseases

Jam-packed with trans fats, which are also known as bad cholesterol, frozen foods can increase your chances of developing cardiovascular diseases. These fats can lead to clogged arteries which can obstruct the blood flow to your heart and can eventually cause a heart attack, stroke, or even death. Moreover, salt, a preservative used in too much quantity to keep frozen food look fresh for a longer time, can increase your blood pressure, and can even cause hypertension, if persisted for long.

Frozen Food Can Cause Cancer

Did you know that eating frozen foods, meat in particular can lead to pancreatic cancer? It can increase your chances by over 65 per cent to develop the disease. This is because of corn syrup and acrylamide, two substances found in frozen foods that have carcinogenic tendencies.

Frozen Foods Can Lead to Obesity

Being rich in trans fats, which contain twice the number of calories than protein or carbs, frozen foods can take a toll on your health. Eating even 1 cup serving of frozen chicken can increase your calorie intake by 600. This can gradually lead to obesity, which is associated with various cardiovascular ailments.
