Shah Rukh Khan is the ‘King of Bollywood’, and every now and then we are reminded of the same. For instance, his brief stint in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva left his fans in awe. People were thrilled to watch their favourite star on the big screen after a long time. Now that three of his movies are set to hit the theatres next year, his fans around the world just can’t keep calm. They seem to wait for the smallest of details regarding the upcoming films. The latest update is that Shah Rukh has just wrapped up his shoot for action-thriller Jawaan in Chennai, and seems like he had a great time with the team there.
The actor took to Twitter to share how he has been having a blast during his time in the city with the film’s team, and was super impressed with the hospitality shown by the south film fraternity. Besides meeting superstars Rajinikanth and Vijay, SRK mentioned how he saw a movie with his co-actor Nayanthara and partied with music composer Anirudh Ravichander. He also had thoughtful conversations with his other co-actor, Vijay Sethupathi. But, for us, the highlight of his time in Chennai was his scrumptious feast, which actor Vijay and director Atlee, along with his wife Priya, treated him to.
In his tweet, SRK mentioned how Vijay treated him to delicious food, and thanked Atlee and his wife for their hospitality. ‘King Khan’ even asked them the recipe for their Chicken 65. “Wot a 30 days blast RCE team! Thalaivar blessed our sets…saw movie with Nayanthara partied with @anirudhofficial deep discussions with @VijaySethuOffl & Thalapathy @actorvijay fed me delicious food.Thx @Atlee_dir & Priya for ur hospitality now need to learn Chicken 65 recipe!”, SRK tweeted. Seems like SRK noshed on a good amount of Chicken 65 at the filmmaker’s home. Priya, too, graciously responded to the tweet and said that the recipe is on the way.
For the unversed, Chicken 65 is a spicy, deep-fried chicken starter, which is said to have originated at Hotel Buhari in Chennai. Why the suffix ‘65’? There are many interesting theories behind its name and the origin of this crunchy, peppery dish. According to a popular theory, the dish was invented in Tamil Nadu by AM Buhari in the year 1965 (thus, the name).
However, a not-so-popular legend has it that the original recipe for Chicken 65 comprised 65 hot spices, and anyone who could finish off a plate of this dish was considered a true hero. Some also argue that the dish is named so because it was cut in 65 pieces for this dish. Interesting, isn’t it?
If SRK’s fandom for this dish or the interesting stories behind it have also made you crave Chicken 65, we’ve got a recipe for you to try at home. Although not from Atlee’s kitchen, this recipe can be just the perfect way to enjoy this South Indian starter at home. Click here for the full recipe.
