While working in the kitchen, you surely want to preserve as much as possible, be it your fruits, veggies and various waste products. The usual storing of things has been in plastic bags after boiling, chopping or refrigerating them into cubes. However, it is essential to seal it by removing as much air as possible. Doing this increases the food's shelf life and reduces the chances of spoilage due to bacterial infection. Typically, a vacuum sealer removes excess air from plastic bags and stores them appropriately. However, even if you don't have a vacuum sealer, you need not worry. Because today we are telling you about effortless ways to remove excess air from plastic bags without a vacuum sealer.

Seal with water

It may sound strange to you, but only water can act as a vacuum sealer. Yes, fill water in a tub or any such large vessel that your zipper bag can fit. After this, you take the zip lock bag, put your food items in, and then close the zip. However, leave the last one inch open. This will help the excess air to escape quickly. Now dip this zip lock bag in water. Grab the bag by the last inch. The extra air will come out of the pack in a few seconds. Now seal the bag from that end as well. Using this trick will give you the same result as a vacuum sealer.

Takeaway tip: Water may spill around while applying this method. That is why you must first put kitchen towels under and around the bag, as this will reduce the cleaning trouble later.

Food storage zipper bags

Completely submerge as much of the food as is in the zipper bag. Do not completely submerge the zipper bag, as doing so will fill the bag with water, spoiling the food. When you put the food in the zipper bag, you can fold it from the sides as the food will not be placed in the zip, and then there will be no problem in sealing it. However, while folding from the edges, keep in mind that its zip should not be torn.

Takeaway tip: If you want to manage your food in a better way, then after putting the food in the zipper bag, layer them by patting lightly.
