Sawan 2023: Tips To Shed Kilos While Fasting For Shravan

This year, the month of Shravan, also known as Sawan, began on July 10 and will continue until it concludes on August 31. This joyous moth will be celebrated with a number of important festivals including Teej, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, and Nag Panchami. During this time, Sawan Somwar (monday) fasts are observed on a regular basis by devotees of Lord Shiva all across the country. It is believed that individuals who observe these fasts would be rewarded with good fortune, financial success, and the accomplishment of their deepest desires. In addition to this, it is a time to cleanse your body, mind, and spirit while also getting closer to God. During this time, many devotees abstain from eating certain foods and participate in fasting rituals. What if we shared some nutrition advice with you to assist you in losing weight while participating in the Sawan Fast? Here you go.

Have Fresh Fruits: Fresh fruits are commonly consumed during fasting periods by many people. Having seasonal fruits during fasting will keep you hydrated and fiber rich fruits such as apple, banana and more can keep you full for long.

Include Dairy Products: People often drink milk and consume items made from milk such as yoghurt, buttermilk, and paneer (also known as cottage cheese) while they are fasting. They provide you with important nutrients and help you maintain your capacity to keep hydrated.

Have Dry Fruits: Including nuts and dried fruits such as almonds, cashews, raisins, dates, and walnuts in your diet during Sawan Somwar can be a beneficial way to boost your energy levels.

Take Good Sleep: It is important for your body to relax and remain calm during fasting. To maintain optimal alertness, it is recommended to get a sufficient amount of sleep, typically around 7-8 hours. In addition, it is important to note that obtaining sufficient sleep can help reduce food cravings and promote weight loss. Boredom and sluggishness can often lead to an increase in appetite.

Fiber-rich foods: The fast does not prohibit the consumption of tubers such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, colocasia, etc. If you eat nothing but starchy vegetables, your blood sugar will spike rapidly. So, to make the dish more well-rounded, throw in some vegetables high in fibre, such spinach, tomatoes, pumpkin, etc.

Adding Ghee: Ghee is a good source of beneficial fats, such as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has been linked to weight loss and improved body composition, and is great for tossing veggies in. Ghee's rich, creamy flavour can help improve the overall quality of your meals, making you less hungry and less likely to overeat.
