Are you oblivious to the amazing variety of South-Indian food which exists? I still struggle to move out of my comfort zone! That is why Carnatic Cafe ranked so highly on my list of places that I had to visit again to learn more about the native regions and their food. Perhaps you should make a visit soon too. And we are here with a couple of reasons to tell you why.
Each South-Indian region has different local food. For instance, coastal regions of Kerala ride high on Chettinad and Meen Curry, while Andhra has loads of chillies and well, biryani. But the combination of dosa, idli, uttapam, and vada is quite a staple in most parts. Carnatic Café, spread across many chains in Delhi NCR obviously has these familiar items, but why you must try it the next time you head out is for the exceptionally expansive menu with all these one-of-a-kind dishes that you may have never eaten. And the best part? One bite of the dishes and you’ll crave it over and over!
There are four dosas that you must put on your list — Malleshwaram 18th Cross, Manina Maga, Benne Khali and one of the classics! They all have diverse flavors, such that the benne khali is buttery and oh-so-soft, and the manina mega is smeared with a unique chutney of crushed groundnuts and Bayadgi chili which is only grown in Karnataka. Keeping your expectations high? Rest assured, Carnatic Cafe won’t disappoint.
If you want to go with something different, go with the puliogare rice which is flavored with tamarind.
There are dishes that are served in the rural villages of South India, and we are anticipating the day we can try them again! Made with ragi, onion, and chilis — the ragi roti surely tickled our tastebuds!
The other things that you must try are the dahi vada, rava idli, and desserts. They are so versatile in flavor. What a stellar variety. Coconut, pink guava, cheeku..how tempting!
We hope that you’ll head to Carnatic Cafe when you can. It awaits your arrival. Don’t forget to wear a mask and take all the necessary precautions.
