The dough-y, inside-out pizza goodness is what we call the ‘pizza on the go’. Calzone was created by folding half the dough of an uncooked pizza and stuffing it with the most delectable fillings.
Traditional calzone dough consists of flour, yeast, olive oil, water and salt, while the pocket is filled with meat and vegetables, and of course, a generous portion of cheese. The addition of cheese gives calzone its signature pizza taste.
Originally from Italy, the delicacy is also widely popular in the US.
