While it's rather disputed, the word 'barbecue' is said to be derived from a West Indian word 'barbacoa' which means "slow cooking over hot coals."
The record for the longest barbecuing session ever is held by Jan Greeff, who cooked 1,000 hot dogs and 200 pieces of corn, among other items in 80 hours.
Not only that, the world's largest barbecue gathering had more than 45,000 people.
