Why do we love pizza so much? A little science might help you understand better. Pizza toppings are packed with a compound called glutamate, found in the tomatoes, cheese, pepperoni and sausage. When glutamate hits our taste buds, it tells our brains to get excited and crave more of it.
It is also the perfect social food. In Canada and the US, people devote an entire day to come together and celebrate pizza. Usually held in October, pizza day even has established chefs competing to make the best version of the Italian delicacy.
