Quiz: A Quiz For Whiskey Connoisseurs

It is no wonder that the word whiskey is derived from a Gaelic word that means “water of life". This liquid gold alcoholic beverage is the elixir that charges you up after a long day at work, and is perhaps the best conversation grease for the socially-awkward. No matter how you spell it — whiskey or whisky — it serves the same purpose, to rejuvenate.

Even if whiskey purists scoff at the prospect of adulterating the drink by adding anything other than water or soda, mixologists are pushing the boundaries of gastronomical experiments by concocting whiskey cocktails that range from inventive to bizarre, be it the jalapeno-laced Hot Blooded, or the meat-flavoured Bacon Old Fashioned.

The origin of whiskey has long been disputed. Some say it is of Celtic origin, others argue that the first whiskey was distilled in Scotland or Ireland. The Irish believe that Christian monks picked up the art of distillation while travelling to the Arab states.

But how much do you know about whiskey? Test your knowledge out by taking this quiz about whiskeys of the world.
