Sausage rolls cut into portions, wrapped in puff pastry and served with tomato ketchup is as classic as it could get. It is handy yet doesn't get your hands dirty, packed with meaty goodness and is the perfect starter to any house parties. It only involves the use of a few ingredients and an oven to whip up this incredible appetizer and you'll be amazed at how well it turns out. The Classic Pigs In A Blanket
Ingredients:
- 30 sheets of puff pastry
- 30 mini sausages rolls
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 100g coarse seasalt
- 5-6 cucumbers, sliced
- 400g tomato ketchup
Method:
-Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
-Take a sheet of puff pastry and trim the corners.
-Wrap it around a mini sausage roll and place it on the baking sheet.
-Brush melted better over the pastry sheet.
-Sprinkle coarse seasalt over the pastry sheet.
-Place it in the oven and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden all over.
-Serve it on top of thick cut cucumber slices and stick a toothpick through both.
-Add tomato ketchup onto a bowl and serve it as a dip.
The Extravagant Pigs In A Blanket
Ingredients:
- 30 sheets of puff pastry
- 30 mini sausages rolls
- 30 strips of thin cut bacon
- 5-6 cucumbers, sliced
- 150g mayonnaise
- 100g sriracha or any hot sauce of your liking
- 300g mustard
Method:
-Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
-Take a sheet of puff pastry and trim the corners.
-Wrap it around a mini sausage roll.
-Take a strip of bacon and wrap around the puff pastry.
-Place it in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bacon has rendered it's fat and the pastry has puffed up.
-Add mayonnaise and sriracha in a bowl and mix them up to make a spicy dip
-Add the yellow mustard in another bowl.
-Place the piggy blanket rolls over thick cut cucumber slices and stick a toothpick through both.
-Serve them warm, and alongside the flavourful dips.
