Paneer Afghani: Here’s How To Make This Creamy Delight

Paneer is undoubtedly one of the favourite ingredients of most vegetarian Indians. Not only vegetarians but even non-vegetarians don’t mind taking a bite or two of a paneer dish from their vegetarian friends. INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams paneer, cubed
  • 150 grams onions
  • 15 grams ginger
  • 15 grams garlic
  • 2 pods of green cardamom
  • An inch of cinnamon stick
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut
  • 50 grams cashew nuts
  • 100 grams curd
  • 50 grams khoya
  • 50 grams cream
  • 100 grams ghee
  • ½ tsp white pepper powder
  • Few drops of kewra water
  • Salt, according to taste

METHOD

  1. Pound/grind the ginger and garlic and extract the juice. Keep them aside.
  2. In a pan, take a teaspoon of ghee and add the onions and cashew nuts. Fry them till the onions are translucent. Grind them with coconut to make a fine paste.
  3. Add the onion, coconut, and cashew nut paste to a pan along with cardamom, ginger-garlic juice and salt. Cook this until it becomes dry.
  4. Beat the curd and add to the fried masala and ghee and cook till the fat separates.
  5. Next, add white pepper powder and a cup of water to bring it to a gravy consistency.
  6. Add the paneer and cook the curry for a while.
  7. Remove it from heat, add kewra water and mashed khoya. Blend well without breaking the paneer pieces.
  8. Finally, add cream before serving.

You can serve this dish with roomali roti, naan, paratha or even pulao. Then, serve this at a family dinner to make everyone drool over it.
