Winter is here, and that means we need special foods to keep us warm! Now, anjeer or figs are a superfood that is packed with nutrients like copper, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus, among others. It also keeps you feeling fuller for a long period of time.
Anjeer is also used in herbal medicines for treating various ailments like asthma, constipation, and cough. It is known to be a great source of potassium, which helps regulate heart rate and reduce blood pressure, whereas the dried fruit contains pectin, which helps reduce blood sugar, and is an excellent source of iron.

1. Soak two anjeer in water overnight and eat first thing every morning
Anjeer is packed with antioxidants and fibre, and helps to fight reproductive and hormonal health issues. Moreover, it also helps to maintain sugar levels in the body and prevents the occurrence of type 2 diabetes. What’s more, the fibre present in this dry fruit helps to regulate bowel movements, and reduces constipation. Last but not the least, it also provides protection to your heart.
2. Chop anjeer and add to cereals, muesli, and oats
You can kickstart your mornings by adding figs to your cereal bowl. The best idea is to add this chopped dry fruit, and fruits. Not only will it provide you with an energy boost, but it will also keep you satiated for long.

3. Use it to make healthy desserts
Most of us love a good dessert, but how about adding a healthy twist to your favourite sweets? Add it to barfi and halwa, not only to enhance its texture but also its taste. These recipes are doused in ghee, and topped with dry fruits like figs for that added crunch and sweetness. The best part is that you don’t need to add any sugar, because it will become naturally sweetened, thanks to anjeer!
4. Boil anjeer in milk and consume
Combining warm milk with anjeer makes for a good bedtime drink! It not only promotes a good night’s sleep, but also boosts your immunity. And as we all know, immunity is a buzzword in the Covid-19 era of today. So, have a glass of this warm milk and keep illnesses at bay.
5. Banana and anjeer shake
When you blend figs with bananas, you get a beverage that’s not just healthy, but also super delicious! Here’s the recipe for you:

Ingredients:
2 cups dried figs (soaked overnight)
2 cups sliced bananas
4 cups low-fat milk
1 tbsp honey
Method:
1. Take the soaked dried figs and chop them into small pieces.
2. Add figs, bananas, milk, and honey.
3. Blend on medium speed until smooth.
4. Strain the milkshake through a cheese cloth to remove fig seeds.
5. Pour in tall glasses, and garnish with chopped almonds in case you like.
