A perfect weekend after a hectic week loaded demands one to sit back and relax with good food and drinks. don’t you think? And if your idea for the same is chilled cocktail sangria paired with a healthy spin to your favourite dishes across cuisines, we’ve got news for you. One8 Commune, the resto-pub co-owned by cricketer Virat Kohli, has come up with an exciting new menu. And it’s a foodie’s heaven, to say the least.
The chic place was first launched in 2019 at the latest dining district of Delhi, Aerocity. Since then, it has evolved and opened up two new outlets, one in Civil Lines and the latest one being in Punjabi Bagh. The design of all three outlets are in sync, but one element that stands out across the outlets is the one wall which is splashed with the signature of the former captain of the Indian cricket team.
The casual dining space, with design elements that reflect the cricketer’s persona, has been a favourite of Delhiites ever since it opened its doors, but it has made sure to constantly evolve to include a wider range of cuisines to cater to the large number of foodies in Delhi. With its recently launched new menu, the restro-bar is getting as quirky as it can get.
The restaurant has experimented with its exquisite selection of Indian and international recipes, often infused with a host of desi flavours. While the new dishes in the food menu have a unique spin, One8 Commune has also combined a childhood favourite and classic choice of cocktail together with its Sorbet Sangria fest, which offers a unique combination of signature wines poured over fruit sorbets. These come with a hint of luscious infusions and flavours curated by their brand mixologist Neeraj Sharma. We went for Berry Boss, which served shiraz with the blast of berry flavoured sorbet and a hint of cool watermelon.

We sat down with our drinks, and Head Chef Sandeep Kumar started off with the new menu, one dish at a time. He called for the Signature Hummus Commune that was paired with minced chicken keema, along with flat marinara bread, olives, pomegranate seeds and chopped walnuts. For a vegetarian alternative, one can go for soya keema. The wholesome portion of the hummus had us drooling. Next up was the Asian fare, with Chicken Wontons and Pretty Pink Sushi. The wontons were filled with juicy chicken and laden in a spicy sauce, and the sushi were a burst of flavours with a subtle crunch.

Next up were the mains, which was headlined by butter garlic prawns, complete with a sauce of minced garlic with tantalising flavours of butter, served along with a generously butter garlic bread. The Italian fare was no less than a delightful spread of taste and health with Pearl Barley Risotto. With soft and lightly flavoured barley pearls cooked with chicken tenders, and the vegetarian fare offered a wholesome mix of crispy veggies. The star of the new menu would go to the Quinoa Steak, a unique interplay of flavours gave the sauce a tang spin, perfectly balanced with a soft yet crispy quinoa steak. Another highlight was the Lamb Shank – a true delight for non-vegetarians. The curry was a flavourful interplay of spices and herbs, and complimented the juicy lamb meat perfectly.
We sealed our meal with a piece of decadent and indulgent red velvet cake and one dark double chocolate cake. A blissful treat, indeed!
