Peking is a delicacy from Beijing, which has been in existence since it was cooked in Imperial courts during the Ming Dynasty. It is beautifully indulging. Eating peking duck is a palatable adventure for the taste buds. No one wants to pay to eat ‘peking duck’ in India, says the majority. On top of that, serving peking duck at the upscale Chinese restaurant ‘Chi Ni’ at The Roseate is only done to suit the palate of Delhi’s richest, says the majority again.
But rest assured, once you step inside the only restaurant which is under a tent canopy, you’ll forget all about your concerns.
Even if you have your conservative beliefs about what to eat, the experience at the wonderful restaurant, Chi Ni, at Roseate Hotel will deliver in such an extraordinary way that you’ll have to change your mind.
Well, Chi Ni is actually not a Michelin-star restaurant, but it is modelled on a dining concept that has won a Michelin star in London — namely, Kai Mayfair. But as Michelin stars are not recognised in India, Chi Ni is often seen as a high-end restaurant sans the fame. Yet, that doesn’t affect the food preparation at Chi Ni. It brings the exact excellence to India.
At the restaurant, peking duck is a dish that combines many textures and irresistible flavours. So as per the textbook, the succulent meat is meant to be sliced by the chef in front of the guest, who dipped in hoisin sauce and ate it with vegetables such as spring onions, leeks and cucumbers. Since the first layer is really crispy, the restaurant has a shortcut that allows you to savour it with thin pancakes. The other parts of the roasted duck are used to make other dishes.
Eat from your heart. You shall have to keep your mind open about eating peking duck, and allow yourself to taste the flavours which will transport you to Beijing. The dish is served at Rs. 2800, as per the menu uploaded on Just Dial. Another dish that is similar to peking duck is crispy aromatic duck. Besides them, Chi Ni serves an eclectic range of Asian fusion food.
Chi Ni is located at The Roseate in New Delhi.
