Feeling sluggish after a meal is very normal, especially after a big meal. Food is fuel for our body but it can also cause fatigue and weight gain depending on our eating habits, patterns, and the type of food we eat. Food, both positively and negatively, affects our body’s performance. With the recent hustle culture, it has become normal to miss meals which leads to one getting drained in the middle of the day. This is one of the weak moments when people grab anything to snack on. But this can be reversed if we choose healthier snacks for weight loss and instant energy top up.
Some people have a very heavy lunch and find themselves filled with lethargy throughout the day and gain weight tremendously. What we eat plays a big role in our day-to-day energy levels. Some of the biggest reasons for feeling lethargic and obesity are unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, and choosing high fat snacks.
To learn about healthier snacks for weight loss and feel energetic throughout the day, Health Shots spoke to nutrition expert Pranay Jain.
“Just as lunch plays a role in our energy levels, so do the snacks we munch on throughout the day. In order to get the best of our day with high spirits, one can choose snacks that will help keep the fatigue at bay and give you the zeal you need for your day. Snacks with high carbohydrate and protein content like nuts and fruits are good for endurance and will boost your energy levels for the day,” says Jain, also the Founder and CEO of BodyFirst
Here are 3 healthy snacks for weight loss:
1. Seeds
Chia seeds are an excellent source of fiber, calcium, iron, Omega-3, and Omega-6. Flax seeds are an incredible source of proteins. And basil seeds are filled with Omega-3 and Omega-6. Inculcating these seeds in your diet can highly boost your metabolism and keep you full and stop you from reaching for a packet of chips or cookies.
2. Nuts
If you start feeling hungry, instead of reaching for a packet of processed foods, try having nuts. Nuts can help beat hunger and highly aid in boosting your mood. Almonds and walnuts are packed with proteins and magnesium which help boost your energy levels. Additionally, introducing fruits into your everyday diet can also help beat fatigue and make for perfect snacks for weight loss.
3. Water
Before you call us out on listing ‘water’ as a snack, hear us out. At times, we are running low on hydration and feel a sudden urge to indulge in some snacking. This leads to excess weight gain. Drinking plenty of water in the form of a detox water may help. In addition, sipping on fresh juices is essential for our body to function optimally and provide hydration too.
“It does not provide energy in the form of calories but helps to facilitate the process which is an energy booster in itself.” says Jain.
By following a healthy routine, eating and drinking right, one can enjoy a healthy lifestyle and not worry about putting on weight.
